WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL
ΚΑΛΩΣ ΗΡΘΑΤΕ ΣΤΟ ΣΧΟΛΕΙΟ ΜΑΣ
Since its establishment in 1955, the Hellenic School of Manchester has been the official Greek supplementary school recognised by both the Ministry of Education of Greece and the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus.
Our school is also a member of the Central Educational Council of Greece of the Holy Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain (K.E.S.) and the Cyprus Educational Mission (K.E.A.). In addition, our school became an examination centre for the Greek language certification in 2018.
Here at the Hellenic School we value the importance of teaching and promoting the Greek language and culture in our children. Our school welcomes children who have Greek as their first or second language and aims to help them develop their understanding.
Our teachers are highly skilled, fully qualified and continuously work to high standards. They plan and organise fun, exciting and engaging activities which promote effective learning.
The Hellenic School of Manchester is based in Salford and is located next to the Greek Orthodox Church. Classes are carried out on a weekly basis on Tuesdays or Saturdays for children aged 5 and above. Adult evening classes are also available on a weekly basis. As a school, we have an open-door policy and we are always available to speak to you and discuss any queries or feedback you might have.
We would love if you entrusted your children with us and be part in this magical and exciting Greek journey!

Our school was founded in 1955 by the Greek Cypriot ex-pat community living in Greater Manchester. For many years, the school was run by volunteers and children could attend without paying fees. The school took place on Saturdays at the premises of a mainstream school in Greater Manchester.
Due to the love and support of the Greek Cypriot community towards this cause, around 25 years ago we managed to overcome great challenges and build our own premises to house our school. The school took part in many celebrations and competitions with small ethnic minority schools in Greater Manchester. We won many awards and managed to have financial help from the Manchester City council for our outstanding performance. Amongst others, this is reflected from the fact that every year, our school children pass their GCSEs with top marks.
